How to Prepare Your Home for Dumpster Delivery

A smooth dumpster delivery starts before the truck arrives. A few minutes of prep makes sure the bin lands in the right spot, your driveway stays protected and pickup goes just as easily. Here is what homeowners in Heber City, Midway and Park City should do before a roll-off dumpster shows up.

Pick the Right Spot

The best spot is flat, firm and close to where you will be working. For most homes, that means the driveway. Before you decide, check these points:

  • Is the ground level? A sloped spot makes loading harder and can let the bin shift.
  • Is it firm? Soft lawn or wet gravel can rut under a loaded bin.
  • Can you reach it easily with a wheelbarrow or dolly?
  • Does it block a garage, mailbox or neighbor’s access?

Make Room for the Truck

Roll-off trucks need more room than people expect. The truck has to back in straight and tilt the bin off the rear, so plan for these:

  • Clear space in front of the spot for the truck to line up.
  • Room overhead, away from power lines, low branches and gutters.
  • No cars, trailers or toys in the path on delivery day.

If your driveway is steep or tight, tell us when you book. On mountain lots around Park City, a quick call ahead helps us get the placement right.

Protect Your Driveway

A bin can scuff or mark concrete and asphalt, especially in hot weather. To protect it, ask us to set boards under the bin’s rails, and avoid placing the bin across expansion joints when you can. We place every dumpster gently and level.

Street Placement, HOAs and Permits

If the bin can’t fit on your property, it may need to go on the street. Many cities and HOAs have rules for that, and some require a permit. Check with your city and HOA before you book a street spot, so the bin does not have to move halfway through your project.

On Delivery Day

  1. Mark the exact spot with a cone, chalk or a note.
  2. Keep pets and kids inside while the truck backs in.
  3. Leave the gate open if the bin goes behind a fence.
  4. You do not need to be home, but keep your phone on in case the driver has a question.

When You Are Done

Call us when the bin is full or the project wraps up. Keep debris below the top edge, and clear the path again so the truck can reach the bin. Then we haul it away and dispose of everything responsibly.
